Description

PRONG-SET WIRE WRAPPED PENDANT
Learn this simple but useful variation on basic wire-wrapping. “Prongs” are created in the wrapping design to hold the stone with less wire getting int he way. You can choose where and how long each prong is. You will learn the basics of wire-wrapping using square & half-round wire including bundling, binding, making the bail, measuring and design planning. No previous wire experience is required, but it is helpful.

Materials List

You provide the wire and the stone:

Stone – A cabochon or other flat stone, at least the size of a quarter. Bring a few if you can’t decide or choose from the selection at the store before the class.

Wire – 21ga square, soft wire and 21ga half-round, soft wire
If you get craft wire (coated copper wire), these sizes are typical and it’s usually “soft” even though it isn’t always labeled as such.
If you decide to use gold-filled or sterling silver wire, you can go up or down a gauge if necessary, but make sure it’s soft, not half-hard.

There should be wire available at the shop the day of the class, but I recommend getting your supplies early in case supplies are limited.
